Memory Connection Kits

Providing a means of engagement for those with mid to late stage dementia, their family and caregivers.

Memory Connection Kits are available at the Wilton Public Library, 400 East Street, Suite 104, Wilton and may be loaned for 3 weeks.

You may reserve a kit through your local Winding Rivers Library System library located in Sparta, Tomah, Cashton, Norwalk, Wilton, and Kendall.

The kit will be transported to your local library for you to pick up and return.

Background

The moderate to late stages of Alzheimer's disease can leave caregivers and persons with dementia wondering how to fill their time with meaningful activities.

The Wilton Public Library with the support of the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Monroe County have created 6 Memory Connection Kits. The kits include toys, games, puzzles, books & music to engage the person with dementia.

The activities may facilitate meaningful conversation and interactions between a caregiver, family members, friends and the person with dementia. The Memory Connection Kits can also serve as a source of respite for the caregiver as many activities will allow the care receiver to engage in them individually. Each kit contains a different mix of objects selected to captivate adults with moderate to late stage memory loss. The Administration on Aging Alzheimer's Family Caregiver Support Program has contributed towards the cost of the Memory Connection Kits.
