The Dementia Friendly Monroe County Coalition uses an evidence-based community toolkit to engage community members in a process that will help them determine their current strengths and gaps, identify community goals and ways to respond, and to act together to be dementia friendly.
To be officially recognized, a dementia friendly community does the following:
raises awareness of & develops respect & inclusion for people with dementia
embeds services & resources in all areas of community to ensure meaningful access to community & promote quality of life
supports & educates people with dementia, their care partners and families from diagnosis through disease progression
promotes meaningful engagement in community life.
To join the Dementia-Friendly Monroe County Coalition, contact us or come to a meeting! Meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of the month from 1:30pm - 3:00pm in the Monroe County Board Assembly Room in the Monroe County Courthouse in Sparta.
Improve the Lives of those living in our communities who suffer from dementia related illnesses.
